So, here we go. What turned out an idea has now turned into reality very quickly. Leif has now bought himself a new pair of trainers and a GPS watch so that early expenditure means no turning back now. Mind you given his past record at training I do not understand how he could possibly need another pair of new trainers and GPS watch - he has never run far enough to get lost!
Anyway, last night kids were taken care of by Fiona's mum, dad and sister, so we had a great night out at Champany Inn - you know - lovely starter, main course, 4 beers and to top it all off Cheese Cake!
So this morning? Well not up as early as normal but in any case feeling not too bad. Three cups of tea and toast and I find myself equipped with GPS watch for traditional Sunday run along Canal - around 7km. Full of enthusiam I spend 10 minutes trying to work out what course Sune has set for me only to find me finally racing against a virtual runner doing 30km per hour! So stop I did, spent another 10 minutes finding another course and so finally begin.
First 10 minutes not too bad, keeping pace nicely then slowly but surely the pace drops. Although you know it already it is heart breaking to look at the dam GPS watch for confirmation!
Finally complete the course in just over 40 minutes which is very depressing considering I used to do it in 36! Anyway it is a start......
Arrive back home to find Fiona wondering where the hell I have been! 20 minutes with GPS watch, 40 minute run plus 10 minute travel I respond to which I receive a shake of the head - mad - maybe she is right!
